    Responsibilities

    The Role

    Affordable Care is seeking a Manager of General Accounting reporting to the Controller.  The Manager of General Accounting is responsible for various accounting operations of the company, including the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.  The candidate must:

     

     

    • Have experience using and a propensity to quickly learn how to navigate various financial systems. Must be a very efficient Microsoft user.
    • Possesses an understanding of profitability drivers necessary to achieve financial objectives and be able to translate complex issues into simple-to-understand concepts.
    • Use outstanding inter-personal skills to influence through relationship building, business insights and critical thinking
    • Demonstrate a strong work ethic, high sense of urgency, ability to roll-up their sleeves and the passionate desire to drive results.

     

     

    Key Objectives

    ·        Manage cash flow and creditor reporting.

    ·        Manage practice owner bonus calculations.

    ·        Manage fixed assets (book and tax) and capital expenditure accounting / reporting.

    ·        Partner with Real Estate and Business Leaders to evaluate capital investments.  Prepare post audit analysis to determine if committed thresholds were achieved.

    ·        Establish and maintain systems and controls that verify the integrity of all systems, processes and data, and enhance the company's value.

    ·        Respond to the Controller and CFO with accurate and timely work to facilitate financial decisions.

    ·        Participate in a wide variety of special projects and compile a variety of special reports.

    • Lead financial system implementations and process improvement initiatives.
    • Is confident, transparent, nimble, and succinct. Provides accurate and timely reporting and analytics to key stakeholders. Ensures there is integrity in projections and that they are grounded in reasonable, logical assumptions. Demonstrates excellent oral and written communication skills both internally and externally.

    Qualifications

    Candidate Profile & Preferred Experience

    • Experience working in a fast-growth company, particularly one where new location roll-outs (i.e. new retail stores or branches) have occurred. Experience developing a performance management environment where KPIs/dashboards are developed and leveraged to help track and drive results.
    • Experience in a retail, healthcare-focused retail, or franchise model organization and private equity environment.
    • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration with an emphasis in Accounting, or a related field
    • Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in accounting/auditing
    • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) license highly desired
    • Excellent computer skills; experience in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite; Access, database, or other system knowledge. Proficiency with accounting software and experience with a software system implementation
    • Exceptional knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
    • Analytical ability to develop and implement improvements or recommendations
    • Attention to detail
    • Able to work well with senior executives and team, as well as mentor/lead other team members
